Description:ยท Supervises ENG / EFP and Editing staff
- Schedule interviews with coaches and student athletes and other sporting and professionals on a daily basis
- Set up stories and assign photographers
- Book satellite & fiber needs
- Build relationships with all news sources
- Create long term plans for future stories
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned
- Punctual, regular, and consistent attendance
Qualifications:
- B.S. or B.A. degree in Communications preferred or equivalent work experience
- Min. of 5-7 years experience in television with a newsroom background preferred
- Thorough knowledge of professional and collegiate sports. Knowledge and or experience with Houston Professional and Southwest regional collegiate teams helpful
- Previous assignment desk experience
- Experience with newsroom computer and editings systems
- Ability to make quick, rational decisions under pressure where deadlines must be met
- Excellent interpersonal & communication skills required
- Strong work ethic, positive attitude and leadership qualities with the ability to handle multiple tasks and set priorities a must
- Ability to work non-traditional hours, weekends & holidays
- Ability to work in a fast paced, high pressure environment
