Branch Assistant Manager
Reports To: Branch Manager
FLSA Status: Exempt - Administrative
Position Primary Purpose: To assist Branch Manager with managing overall branch sales and service functions to achieve sales objectives. Lead branch team to deliver quality service to members, external customers and/or coworkers.
Communicate Core Purpose, Strategic Focus, Core Values and Business Priorities to employees to create a positive and consistent member experience.
Work together with sales, service and support staff to create a collaborative work environment and create a positive member experience.
Use discretion and independent judgment in managing overall daily branch operation, such as: member account, branch facility, vault, security, net earnings, inventory, marketing, professional branch image, record maintenance and reporting. Assist branch manager in responsibility with quality, quantity, accuracy and timeliness of work produced by branch employees daily.
Assist department manager with interviewing, selecting, training, evaluating, supervising, scheduling, coaching, developing and disciplining department employees, using appropriate interpersonal skills. Assist department manager with ensuring department staff is providing responsive and professional service to the internal customers and members.
Use leadership skills to direct others as needed to facilitate branch operations and quality control. Contribute toward effective team problem solving with staff, peer and management through open lines of communication.
Responsibility to act as Branch Manager in their absence.
Oversee branch daily balancing function. Monitor sales and service team for compliance to guidelines and established procedures and provide transaction overrides, approvals and error corrections as needed. Provide information to sales and service team members as needed. Assist Branch Manager with verification of work submitted from staff for quality, accuracy and timeliness daily.
Coach sales and service team members to use sales skills to build strong financial relationships with members. Coach and monitor sales performance to achieve established results in sales goals and service standards.
Support, coach and assist Personal Financial Representatives with interviewing and establishing new membership and subsidiary accounts as well as interviewing and closing consumer, home equity, first mortgage loans and product/service delivery.
Assist members by performing account and loan functions as needed to meet branch sales and service goals. Handle member questions, inquiries and complaints as requested.
Attend and participate in community events, outside marketing events and meetings, as needed to promote Salal Credit Union.
Market all Credit Union products and services, as member and prospective member needs are determined.
Obtain current license and bond as a Notary Public and become certified to perform Signature Guarantee functions for members as required by management.
Complete all education, training and professional development required for position.
Demonstrate product knowledge and meet annual product and service certification requirements.
Consistently demonstrate use of Sales Strategies Core Selling Skills to attract and retain loyal members.
Comply with all state and federal regulations and compliance standards, including: Identify Theft Protection Plan (ITPP), Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Customer Information Privacy (CIP), Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) as well as Credit Union policies and procedures. Complete required compliance training.
Ensure required records are retained in accordance with the Salal Records Retention Program and preserved in a careful and secure manner.
Use network PC workstation to access core system software to perform account transactions, queries, and specialized functions for accounts as needed. Utilize all Internet service delivery systems and Microsoft Office Suite to perform duties as needed. Operate and maintain department equipment and troubleshoot as needed.
Perform additional duties as assigned and work in other departments and branches as required.
Previous Experience: Performed successfully in an Assistant Manager position within a financial organization for a minimum of one year.
Education: High School Diploma or GED. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience preferred.

Market products and services in manner that is responsive and professional. Train co-workers in operational duties of position. Accomplish multiple service tasks efficiently and produce a high volume of work in a timely manner which is accurate, complete and of high quality. Listen to cues and ask proactive questions to select appropriate product or service to sell or refer. Working knowledge of general banking principles and federal and state lending regulations. Coach and develop sales, service and support skills. Leadership skills.
Physical Requirements: Sitting or standing continuously for periods of four hours, communicating verbally, communicating in writing, faculty of seeing and hearing and operating a keyboard. Lifting and carrying usually not to exceed 20 pounds.
Mental Requirements: Interpersonal interactions, problem solving, analyzing/evaluating, decision making, discretion/confidentiality, math skills, teamwork, read/write/speak English, creativity and task handling.
Working Conditions: Work is performed in an office environment but also requires mobility within the office. Must be able to report to work during inclement weather conditions. May be required to travel to other Credit Union facilities and various locations for job related training, meetings and events.
