An Associate Buyer for Global Sourcing will utilize their entrepreneurial spirit and strong negotiation skills to develop their own product category. This position will work daily with vendors to purchase strong product to effectively meet financial targets.

Working Conditions

Work in an office setting at a desk or workstation with a computer terminal. Moderate to heavy phone/fax usage. Some walking.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

Maintain collaborative partnerships and negotiate effectively with vendors and overseas suppliers

Effectively communicate with assistant buyer, fellow buyers and other internal teams on a daily basis

Negotiate off-price product

Entrepreneurial spirit: open minded to new ideas and creating a business within a business

Strong decision making skills: buyers are encouraged to have a high level of autonomy with the ability to negotiate and make on-the-spot decisions

Identify and shop online competition

Manage substantial vendor matrix

Meet and/or surpass financial target expectations

Seek out new product and categories

Perform other related duties as required by manager

Requirements/Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Experience and degrees required:
3+ years buying experience preferred

Bachelor’s Degree with an excellent academic record or relevant work experience

Experience buying for an online and/or off-price channel preferred

Knowledge of:
Microsoft Office (intermediate to advanced level)

Experience in SAP Business One software a plus

Skilled in:
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

Excellent multi-tasking and organizational skills

High attention to detail

Bilingual a plus

Strong negotiation skills

Self-starter – motivated in nature

Team player
