Bridgewater State University Assistant Comptroller, Fiscal Affairs This is an exempt, non-unit position. GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: The Assistant Comptroller is responsible for providing day to day administrative direction to accounts payable, general accounting, grant accounting and other assigned fiscal related services and integrating these services with the operations of the University consistent with the laws, rules and regulations of the Commonwealth. SUPERVISON RECEIVED: Direct Supervision is received by the Comptroller. SUPERVISION EXCERCISED: Exercises supervision of subordinate professional, non-professional, and student personnel in Fiscal Affairs. CORE DUTIES: 1. Oversee the daily operations of accounts payable, general accounting, grant accounting, and financial reporting. 2. Serves as first line supervisor for the personnel of the Fiscal Affairs Office. 3. Maintains computerized general ledger, chart of accounts and accounting records. 4. Assists in the development of fiscal policy and procedures and maintains and updates fiscal policy and procedure manuals. 5. Assists the Comptroller with the preparation and execution of the annual independent financial statement audit for the University, Annual Comprehensive Financial Report and any audits which take place. 6. Supervises and ensures accuracy of the entering of MMARS transactions. Oversees the fund activity and reconciliation of MMARS system to internal ledgers. 7. Assists in preparation of fiscal reports for internal and external constituents. 8. Responsible for cash management, cash flow and Investment activities. 9. Oversee all financial reporting to ensure the integrity of financial data. 10. Works with the University Project Review Committee and DCAM (Division of Capital Asset Management) in the planning and accounting for capital projects. 11. Works cooperatively with other departments and University community. 12. Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Minimum Qualifications
1. Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or a related discipline, as well as five to seven years of related experience. Consideration will be given to Associates Degree with 10+ years of supervisory experience. 2. Demonstrated abilities in fiscal control and supervision. 3. Proven supervisory and leadership skills. 4. Knowledge of GASB. 5. Experience with computerized accounting systems. 6. Strong time management and planning skills required to coordinate and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously while adapting to changes in business requirements in a fast-paced environment.
1. Knowledge of Massachusetts accounting policies and procedures preferred. 2. Massachusetts Public Higher Education experience preferred. 3. Knowledge of SCT Banner preferred. 4. Familiarity with the State Accounts System (MMARS) preferred.
