Lending Club is looking to hire an Assistant Controller, Portfolio Accounting to be a part of the Accounting/Finance team.
Manage the recording, documentation and maintenance of daily and monthly records of loan originations, purchases, sales and servicing transactions, and related securities issuance and servicing transactions in conformance with generally accepted accounting principles.
Manage the balancing and reconciliation of cash, loan and securities-issued balances and activities recorded on Purchasers’/Investors’ account statements, LendingClub’s Platform, bank records and the general ledger
Manage the monthly, quarterly and year-end general ledger closings as it relates to the accounting for loans, securities issued, related cash accounts, the fair value of loan servicing and related assets, liabilities, commitments and contingencies.
Manage the preparation of documentation in the areas of loan accounting, loan sales accounting, securities issued (liabilities), and related fair values accounting to support the quarterly reviews and annual audit of LC Corporation’s financial statements. Respond to auditors’, regulators’ and due diligence requests as necessary.
Oversee the update and documentation of the recurring/periodic analyses of estimated direct loan origination costs, fair value of loan servicing, contingent loss reimbursement obligations, and other analyses as warranted
Assess, identify and document the appropriate accounting treatment and methods for new and revised programs and activities related to loans, loan sales, loan servicing securities issuance as warranted
Seven or more years’ experience in loan origination, loan servicing and/or loan secondary market trading areas of a bank, savings institution, mortgage lender/broker or comparable financial services company
Strong knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles for loan originations, loan sales and loan servicing required
Familiarity with fair valuation concepts and methodologies for loans, loan servicing rights and/or fixed income securities
Ability to identify problems/discrepancies, independently perform research/analysis of causes and recommend/implement corrective actions
Ability to verbally communicate clearly and precisely on technical/specific topics
Experienced and effective skills to organize unit activities, manage staff and coordinate with executives, managers and staff of other units and departments.
Must be self-directed, able to work independently, as well as work in a team-oriented and fast paced environment
Strong initiative and demonstrated ability to be flexible, adaptive and agile
Intermediate skills with Excel required; familiarity with Access a plus
Bachelors’ degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related Business discipline preferred. CPA, CFA and/or Masters Degree in a Business, Accounting, Finance, Economics or a related discipline a significant plus.
