Assistant Controller

Summary:
Employees in this job perform a variety of financial support functions, handle a variety of loan transactions, loan servicing and reconciliations, and process a wide variety of accounting documents such as invoices, departmental billings, employee reimbursements, cash receipts, vendor statements and journal vouchers. Employees review and code financial information, prepare and process documents to lend funds, make deposits and prepare reports, compile and review information for accuracy, and maintain records. Work is performed by applying knowledge of accounting terminology and using spreadsheets and automated accounting systems.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Handles a variety of loan transactions
    • Accounts for loan disbursements
    • Reconciles disbursements with Loan Servicer, CRM Database, and Quickbooks
    • Monitors disbursement activity in CRM Database
    • Randomly tests payoff, commitment fee, and interest calculations
  • Performs a variety of financial support functions
    • Assists with monthly closing of financials in four entities
    • Prepares monthly invoicing and distribution
    • Uploads and reconciles Corporate credit card
    • Manages cash deposits
    • Assists in payroll preparation and reconciliation
    • Manages accounts payable and codes to appropriate general ledger accounts
    • Researches and participates in annual company audits and tax related matters
    • Interfaces directly with clients and vendors
    • Completes collections of receivables
  • Interacts with Operations, Sales, and Legal/Compliance
    • Reports Servicing to CRM discrepancies regularly to issues log
    • Manages CRM database contract network
    • Coordinates billable and reimbursable expenses with Sales
    • Assists with quarterly and annual state return filings
    • Reviews contracts for client invoicing terms
  • Prepares Reports and Financial Models
    • Weekly Balance Sheet reporting
    • Budget v. Actual reporting
    • Modeling and maintaining budgets and forecasts
    • Managing Fixed Asset schedule
    • Monthly onboarding fees collected
    • Portfolio Management Reports
    • Borrowing Base Calculation for bank
  • Performs Ad Hoc projects for Controller and CEO
    • Maintains confidentiality
    • Completes special projects as assigned
    • Keeps management informed of activities and areas of concern
Performance Measurement:
Competently maintains regularly reconciled loan portfolio to book. Completes timely preparation of billing, payables, and payroll. Cooperates with Operations, Sales, and Legal when interacting and managing deadlines. Ensures timely and accurate financial reporting. Performs general accounting duties as needed.

Experience:
3-5 years of experience in Accounting or related Finance field

Computer Skills:
Proficient in Microsoft Suites
Superior knowledge of Excel and Quickbooks
Ability to use accounting software and spreadsheets

Certificates and Licenses:
Additional bookkeeping, accounting, financial modeling courses preferred

Education:
Bachelors Degree

Fair Lending Responsibilities:
Associates should exercise consistency, equal treatment and fairness during the performance of their jobs. Each Associate will be held accountable for his or her Fair Lending responsibilities. In the event that Fair Lending deficiencies are observed or noted in the Associates job performance, that Associate will receive counseling and/or adequate training in an order to correct the deficiency. If the deficiency continues, the Associate may be subject to more severe action including employment termination.
