The Assistant Controller position requires a self-directed individual with a strong knowledge of US GAAP. This position is integral to the performance of a corporate business unit which operates in the outsourcing services industry. The typical Assistant Controller will be responsible for approximately $100M - $200M in annual recurring revenue. This position will manage Accounting Managers and other accounting professionals to ensure that the Financial Statements are properly presented. They will assist with pursuit of new business and the proper accounting treatment of such. The incumbent will advise the operations and finance managers on issues related to US GAAP and regulatory compliance, legal regulations, and company policies. Successful Assistant Controllers are team players that work alongside the Finance, Operations and Sales teams to provide a cohesive unit that assists in meeting the demands of a successful business.
REPRESENTATIVE PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Oversee and perform month-end close functions to ensure the financial statements are in compliance with US GAAP
Manage and develop accounting managers and other accounting staff
Advise finance and operations teams on US GAAP compliance
Assists finance, sales, and operations with new business pursuits, including contract reviews
Ensure compliance with SOX
Support internal and external audits
Special projects as assigned.
Education and Typical Years of Experience:
BS/BA degree in accounting or equivalent.
CPA or advanced degree preferred. Public accounting experience strongly preferred
7 + years of progressive experience, with demonstrated management and analytical skills.
Knowledge of accounting practices and policies.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
