The Controller is responsible for managing and overseeing all accounting functions for mSpot, a wholly owned subsidiary of Samsung. This position will be responsible for directing day to day accounting operations with an emphasis on closing the financial books, financial reporting and maintaining effective internal controls. This position performs a variety of routine and complex professional and technical accounting and finance functions in maintaining the fiscal records, tools, systems and processes of the company. This hands-on individual will provide accounting and finance leadership to the accounting/finance team and support the mSpot executive team, and will perform special accounting projects as required.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Responsible for the accounting department with emphasis on building and maintaining effective internal controls and documenting policies and procedures.

Oversees General Accounting, Finance, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Fixed Assets, Payroll and T&E expense reporting.

Manages the monthly, quarterly and annual financial close, reporting and audits and ensures that they are conducted in accordance with deadlines mandated by headquarters. Serves as lead liaison with global accounting colleagues within Samsung and external audit firms. Ensures preparation of journal entries, accruals, analysis and reconciliations.

Review and approve monthly, quarterly and annual reporting in accordance with IFRS

Establishes and maintains the Company’s financial policies and procedures in accordance with all accounting rules and regulations and ensures adherence to accounting policies and procedures.

Researches, determines and documents the accounting implications of transactions or changes in business and provides accounting and business expertise to executives and project teams.

Assesses the financial implications of new accounting pronouncements on the Company’s operations and issues assessment of implications to management and auditors.

Provide leadership and guidance to the finance team as well as direction in cross-functional initiatives.

Responsible for financial risk management

Responsible for financial review of all company contracts.

Identify opportunities to increase efficiencies and improve processes.

Participate on projects as required.

Bachelors in Business Administration with Accounting or Finance concentration. Master’s Degree preferred.

CPA licensed in California with public accounting experience

10+ years of related experience in Accounting/Finance, preferably in a software company or large multinational technology company

5+ years of management experience

Fluency in Korean strongly preferred

Experienced working with large ERP systems such as SAPL

Proven team player and ability to lead others, including developing direct reports and providing challenging assignments.

Excellent written and verbal communications skills, along with demonstrated positive influence skills.

Ability to prepare, analyze and interpret complex data and technical accounting issues and problem solve.

Strong time management and organization skills.

Self-motivated, team player.

International exposure is a plus.
