Primary responsibilities include support of academic advisement for the New York City Campus, a diverse population of students that include, but are not limited to, students on academic probation, transfer students, international students, first-time freshmen, and undergraduate students seeking advisement about their curriculum and graduation requirements. The Assistant Dean will carry a caseload of students for academic advisement. The Assistant Dean will assist with the development and maintenance of a communication flow with the other departments critical to student success and to ensure effective and efficient service of new and continuing students. The Assistant Dean will assist in creating and cultivating a student-centered atmosphere among staff members and support the implementation of all advising initiatives.
The Assistant Dean will serve as a resource for training of Academic Advisors, develop and maintain Blackboard announcements, Facebook updates and other written correspondence/presentations used to advise students, employ other technology to assist and build relationships with students, and conduct ongoing hands-on advisement/registration training to students and staff.
The hours for this position are Monday – Thursday 12:00 – 8:00 and Friday 10:00 – 6:00. Occasional Saturday hours are required.
Qualified candidate must have:
Master’s degree, preferably in Counseling
Academic Advisement Experience
Excellent Communication Skills
Online experience desired
Working knowledge of PeopleSoft preferred
