Reporting to the Director of Budget Operations, the Assistant Director is responsible for management and financial oversight of the various departmental and faculty programs offered by the Office of the Executive Vice President of Arts & Sciences, as well as for a wide range of fiscal support within the EVP's Office and the Arts & Sciences 27 departments and 40 institutes and centers. Responsible for the overall financial management of faculty research programs (including individual research and start-up allocations), renovation projects, faculty computer replacement program, instructional equipment allocations, and EVP and divisional dean directed resources, including the Interdepartmental Program encompassing EVP-directed funding of certain department activities. Provides oversight for the Faculty Research Allocation Program (FRAP) and ensures policies and procedures are current and faculty are in compliance. Works directly with departments, Facilities, and the Budget and Controller's Offices to ensure associated projects, segments and activities are properly established. Budgets and reviews spending to ensure fiscal integrity of programs. Manages fund transfer and closing adjustments. Analyzes financial data for programs and produces reports on spending and variances for A&S leadership. Reviews and approves, as appropriate, all supplemental and, as any necessary, department approvals, up to authority limit. Works with Director to ensure department transaction compliance with Purchasing and Accounts Payable polices. Works closely with the Director of Budget Operations on the annual Budget Submission and year-end financial close for all A&S institutes and centers. Provides additional support as required.

Bachelor's degree or equivalent in education and /or experience plus three to four years of related experience.

Excellent organization, interpersonal, oral and written communication skill essential. Strong analytical skills required. Proficiency with Excel mandatory. Ability to learn and become proficient with the university's financial systems.
Proven ability to problem solve and to work both independently and as part of a team. Experience with PeopleSoft a plus.
