ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF FOUNDATION RELATIONS, Resource Development-Office of Foundation Relations, to be responsible for activities aimed at securing grants from independent foundations for projects and special initiatives. Will conduct outreach to faculty and school-based staff to identify projects to garner grants from private foundations; conduct prospect research, summarize findings, and suggest strategies for next steps; and work with faculty, deans, and administrative staff in developing inquiries and proposals. Will also manage a portfolio of foundations, developing contacts, stewarding or assisting in the stewardship of selected grants, visiting foundations with faculty or key program staff, coordinating and participating in on-campus visits by foundation staff, preparing briefing packets for visits, tracking news and other important activities at the foundations, and otherwise helping to build strong institutional relationships.

REQUIREMENTS: a bachelor's degree (advanced degree preferred); at least four years of experience in fund-raising, preferably in an academic setting and focusing on private foundations; strong writing and interpersonal communication skills; excellent organizational skills; and attention to detail. Seek a self-starter who is able to initiate, manage, and keep multiple simultaneous projects on track and within deadlines. Must be able to work effectively both independently and as a team member.
