The Facilities & Safety Department at the University of Central Florida has an Assistant Director opening for their Landscape & Natural Resources unit.
Qualified candidate will work closely with the Director and Assistant Director of Landscape & Natural Resources to coordinate overall departmental activities, with primary focus on planning and implementing designs for campus landscape and hardscapes.
Areas of responsibility include main campus, satellite campuses such as the College of Medicine and Rosen School of Hospitality, and areas overseen by campus Direct Service Organization, and Auxiliaries.

- Planning, designing and construction of campus landscape.
- Reviewing landscape design and irrigation plans for new construction and renovations.
- Supervising campus irrigation and landscape construction installation
Master’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization and two years of appropriate experience; or a bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization and four years of appropriate experience.
Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in written correspondence; establish and maintain effective working relationships with people of diverse backgrounds and educational experiences.
Ability to organize, implement and direct landscape design and construction activities; interpret and explain pertinent department policies and procedures; develop cost estimates for services, materials and equipment; read and interpret maps, plans, schematics, and blueprints.
Knowledgeable of landscape design or landscape architecture, irrigation systems, and a familiarity with horticultural material and requirements; experience in landscape construction and installation.
Preference will be granted to candidates possessing experience in university settings.
Educational preference: Bachelor’s degree in horticulture, landscape design, landscape architecture or a related field from an accredited college or university and six (6) years of experience in landscape design or construction; or Master’s degree in relevant discipline with four (4) years of relevant experience in landscaping design or construction including four (4) years of supervisory and management experience.
State title: Assistant Director, Landscape Operations
Possess an understanding of regulatory and statutory issues related to departmental functions.
Ability to work nights and weekends for events and/or respond to campus emergencies.
