POSITION SUMMARY Reporting to the Purchasing Director the Assistant Director provides supervision and oversight of the operations of the Purchasing Department for procurement activities arising from the Society's metropolitan facilities with specific responsibilities for the assignment of daily tasks to Purchasing staff. The Assistant Director is responsible for the formulation of Purchasing Policies as they relate to purchasing for WCS New York based operations and is responsible for the implementation of and adherence to these Purchasing Policies.

INDIVIDUAL RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES
' On a daily basis receive and review for accuracy and completeness purchase requisitions received in Purchasing Department
' Assign specific tasks to individual members of the Purchasing Department
' Prepare both formal written and informal bid packages, solicit and evaluate bids
' Prepare and issue purchase orders
' Oversee the correct maintenance of Purchasing documentation and records
' Assist in preparation of ERP implementation for Purchasing Department
' Assist in creation of Purchasing Policies and Procedures
' Prepare and handle bids for annual supply contracts
' Oversee the maintenance of on-line Society-wide accounts
' Oversee the electronic imaging of Purchasing and Accounting documents (OTG)
' Interview salespeople on behalf of the Society
' Interface with Society staff on procurement needs and strategies
' Interface with Accounts Payable on invoicing issues
' Act in place of Purchasing Director in his/her absence

' Per diem/part time clericals

Experience
A college degree and at minimum a graduate degree, professional certification, graduate degree, or equivalent experience is desired; a working knowledge of both purchasing and accounting fundamentals; a thorough knowledge of fundamental business procedures; 10-15 years experience in actual purchasing; 5 years managerial experience, a working knowledge of appropriate business and communications software (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Word, Internet Explorer); although not required experience with SAP Enterprise wide (ERP) package is desirable

The work is performed in an office setting and there are no strenuous physical demands on job performance. Travel to other Society facilities in the metropolitan area is sometimes required.
