The Assistant Director is responsible for community-building and on-site administration of two residence halls housing 288 residents. The Assistant Director supervises 5-10 Resident Assistants and student support staff, one Hall Assistant Director (Grad Asst.), a full time custodian, a full time maintenance staff person and an Administrative Paraprofessional.
The Assistant Director supports the academic mission of the University by fostering environments conducive to student learning and academic success at the FAU Honors College in Jupiter, Florida. Assistant Director will work closely with a variety of housing, student affairs, and University staff and faculty in developing programs that contribute to and extend student learning outside the classroom and foster personal growth.
The Assistant Director is responsible for conducting Administrative Hearings for student conduct cases. Administer and participate in duty coverage and serve as emergency response for Jupiter Housing. Collaborates with Student Affairs offices to develop campus-wide programming. Implement and interpret housing policy to staff and students. Recommend policy and procedure changes.
Assist with budget development and project planning for facility needs at Jupiter Housing. Administer the recruitment and training of student leaders (Resident Assistants, Student Assistants, Maintenance and Custodial summer staff, MacRSA, as well as Graduate Assistant staff).
Provide oversight to the administrative processes of assignments and occupancy management (business services functions). Conduct weekly staff meetings.
Serve as Adviser to MacArthur Resident Student Association (MacRSA) and the Campus Programming Board. The Assistant Director also advises Homecoming in collaboration with other student affairs staff.
The Assistant Director is also a member of the Jupiter Student Affairs Leadership Team, Campus Life Team and Student Intervention Team. Attends conferences, meetings, and functions for student staff. May provide transportation (drive vehicle/golf cart) for staff/students as well as pick up supplies for events/functions.
Provide counseling and advising to the residents. Provide crisis and mediation intervention.
Oversee the administrative processes (check-in, check-out, key distribution and administration of area offices, etc.) and supervision of all area office student personnel including dissemination of information, security, and other assistance. Assist with departmental projects as assigned.
May be assigned to special projects during the summer months (i.e. special construction projects, maintenance renovations, conferences, orientation, and staff training).

A Master's degree in Higher Education, College Student Personnel, Counseling or a field directly related to student professional development and growth and three years of work experience (including supervisory experience of full time staff) in a related field (higher education, counseling, social work, etc.) is required. Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook is required.
Preferred skills and experience:
Knowledge of student learning and student development, and experience working with diverse populations.
Experience with Banner, Student Conduct, Publisher, and PowerPoint software.
