Position Summary: The Division of Student Affairs at Auburn University is seeking applications and nominations for the position of Assistant Director, Student Involvement. General responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to: providing comprehensive direction and guidance as staff and student leaders plan programs and events; serving as a resource to students; assessing and maintaining risk management practices; participating in staff trainings and meetings; participating on committees and other programs promoting the Division of Student Affairs; supervising full-time staff members, and other duties as assigned. This position requires an applicant who is willing to work long hours, occasional nights and weekend hours.
The Assistant Director will report to the Director of Student Involvement and will be primarily responsible for supervising the for the following areas: Center for Community Service, Center for Leadership & Ethics, Center for Student Organizations & Welcome Week, and other areas as needed within the department. The Assistant Director will directly supervise 3 full-time staff. Additionally, the Assistant Director will work closely with the advisor to Black Student Union and International Student Organization. Other specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to: coordinating the assessment and evaluation of programs, student learning, and community impact within the department; oversee all marketing and web design efforts; work closely with university departments and schools/colleges to implement and promote collaborative efforts related to Office of Student Involvement programs; initiate, formulate, and implement policies, procedures, programs, and projects for improved management and compliance within the department; represent the Office of Student Involvement on committees and collaborative projects at the request of the Director of Student Involvement.

Minimum Qualifications: The minimum qualifications are a Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in Education, Higher Education Administration, Counseling, Student Personnel, Leadership Studies or a related field with five years' experience in higher education administration related to student development services. Employer will consider advanced degrees in lieu of experience. Knowledge of student development theory, budgeting practices, assessment, and strategic planning is required. Excellent written communications skills, as well as strong interpersonal skills are necessary. Organizational skills and the ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks are essential. Desired Qualifications: The following qualifications are desired: A Master's degree in the above stated disciplines; prior experience in student advising and leadership development of diverse student programs and/or organizations; program planning and event management experience; budgeting and fiscal management experience; demonstrated leadership in initiating and implementing collaborative and educational programming among student groups/organizations is desired. Demonstrated commitment to the practice of open and effective communication with students, faculty, and staff to build and maintain collaborative relationships is also desired.
