DESCRIPTION

POSITION: Assistant Director

Program Description: This 110-bed shelter is designed for men and women who are in need of job training and employment. Located in the former Palace Hotel on the Bowery, the program-oriented shelter provides temporary housing for a period of six to nine months. During this time, clients are guided through a structured continuum of treatment and training designed to give them the skills they need to address any substance abuse and/or health issues and to find and maintain permanent employment and housing. The Palace Employment Residence is funded by the NYC Department of Homeless Services and the US Department of Housing and Urban Development.

PROGRAM/UNIT: Palace Employment Residence

HOURS: Full-time, 37.5 hours per week
Monday - Friday, 9:00am - 5:30pm

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsible for assisting Program Director in management of day-to-day operations of the facility. Supervision of clinical staff, auditing of clinical charts, training of staff in clinical interventions and techniques. Supervision of operational staff, training and support as needed. Ensure compliance with DHS, OTDA and NYFD mandates. Outreach into community to expand network of referral services. Provide emergency first aid/CPR assistance when needed. Related duties as assigned.

DUTIES

QUALIFICATIONS: LMSW or related masters/ license preferred. At least two years experience in clinical and administrative supervision preferred. Significant experience working with the homeless population, specifically long-term stay. Knowledge of NYC housing opportunities. Demonstrable writing, communication and group facilitation skills. Computer proficiency required. Must have the ability to work in a high stress/ high volume environment, while maintaining open communications with the other components of treatment and operational teams. CPR training certification or willingness to take training class in CPR.
