Job Summary/Responsibilities:
The Assistant Director serves as the administrator responsible for all initiatives of the Involvement area within Campus Life. This unit provides educational and support services for all registered student organizations at LSU. In addition, the position oversees the vision of involvement at LSU, making resources and pathways available to individual students to examine their involvement and engagement at LSU. 70% Student Involvement Create, guide, and direct the vision of the involvement area of Campus Life, to include registered student organizations, individual student involvement, communication about involvement opportunities, and marketing/communications of the area; coordinate student organization recruitment programs, organizational management workshops and officer and/or advisor training initiatives, and assess these initiatives and report results; maintain regular and consistent communication between student organization officers and advisors; provide programming and administrative support for organization members, officers, and advisors; coordinate publication of all student organization handbooks, resources, website content, on-line training, etc.; evaluate and revise policies impacting student organizations; review and approve/disapprove student organization events; communicate to student organizations these approvals; coordinate, implement and evaluate leadership and involvement recognition programs (individual and organizational); liaison to University departments related to student organization event registration (i.e., Student Union, LSU PD, Registrar, Office of Risk Management, etc.); coordinate the process for group seating for football with registered student organizations and campus departments; conduct student organization accountability process, in conjunction with representatives from Student Advocacy and Accountability; maintain records, regularly reporting status of organization accountability to supervisor and Office of the Dean of Students; liaison to student organization software company; administrator of all student organization software and on-line resources; coordinate initiatives focused on matching involvement opportunities for LSU students, particularly focused on first year students. 20% Administrative Prepare annual budget for assigned areas of responsibility; review and approve all purchases and expenditures, keep accurate records of expenditures and prepare reports as needed; serve on University committees as assigned; assist with activities and events related to the orientation of new students; assume other duties as assigned by the Associate Dean of Students and Director of Campus Life. 10% Supervision Supervise graduate assistant(s); assign, review and evaluate work of employee(s) in this/these position(s).

Required Qualifications:
Master's degree in college student personnel, higher education, or related field with a minimum of three years of experience in student affairs working with students and/or student groups in the areas of programming, leadership, or student organization advising.

Possess well developed organizational skills; the ability to create vision, set goals, implement plans, meet deadlines and evaluate programs and initiatives; the ability to work effectively with individual students, groups of students, faculty and staff. Demonstrate strong human relation skills, the ability to present workshops, and the ability to think critically and solve complex issues affecting student development on a college campus.
