Skidmore College invites applications for the position of Assistant Director for Benefits Administration. This position provides management, administrative and hands-on support, and coordination for a comprehensive benefits program including health, dental, life, disability, retirement and tuition reimbursement plans; policy development, recommendations and implementation of new and current programs and offerings. This position will also develop and administer a comprehensive Wellness initiative for College employees. This position develops and delivers effective communication for College benefits as well as extensive complex data analyses and recommendations for premium adjustments.
This position requires broad and detailed benefits expertise, extensive research and analytical ability and a proven ability to integrate knowledge and implement projects. Working knowledge of insurance and pension plans, current standards, IRS regulations, and other legal requirements is essential. An understanding of the evolving ACA and federal regulations is important. Successful candidates must possess strong organizational skills, the ability to work in a fast paced environment, in a confidential, professional manner and partner with HR colleagues, faculty, staff, and varied contacts. The College is seeking a candidate with integrity, change orientation, and initiative. Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential. Working knowledge of human resource information systems, word processing, and spreadsheet applications is required. A bachelor's degree or equivalent plus 5-10 years of progressively responsible benefits experience are also required. Experience with a self-insured healthcare plan is strongly preferred.
