Duties And Responsibilities

& Minimum Requirements:
With moderate supervision from the supervising Associate Director of Student Financial Services, this position delivers counseling services to current and prospective students and their families regarding the financial aid process, procedures, and program rules, including information about all federal, state, private, and institutional loan, grant and work programs. For students with last names beginning with letters E through K, this position is responsible for preliminary review and processing of financial aid applications, maintenance of all financial aid records, and for written and verbal communication with students to ensure the highest standards of customer/client services and support established procedures to ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and University policies. This position reports directly to the supervising Associate Director for Student Financial Services. This position is one of five Assistant Director positions that comprises the staff of the Student Financial Services Counseling unit. The unit provides financial aid counseling to diverse student and parent populations and works closely with other University departments to ensure quality service is provided. BA Degree required. Part-time or full-time work experience with counseling, customer service, and/or administrative support is required. Demonstrated ability to collect and analyze data and to use independent judgement where appropriate is required. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, a demonstrated ability to work with a diverse client population, and commitment to continuous quality improvement and customer services are required. Experience with and knowledge of mainframe and/or PC based administrative software is required; any combination of experience with thee Banner Student Information System, Microsoft Office suite, COGNOS report writing software is highly desirable. Knowledge of federal, state, and/or institutional financial aid program rules, regulations, or processes is also preferred.
