The Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research at The City University of New York (CUNY) is seeking an Assistant Director for Research Compliance. The Assistant Director will support the University Director for Research Compliance in the oversight, administration and management of CUNY’s research compliance program, which includes the Human Research Protection Program; responsible conduct of research; management and oversight of conflicts of interest; and export control administration. The Assistant Director will take the lead on developing and implementing a research compliance education and quality improvement program that results in a culture of compliance across CUNY’s 24 institutions.
Other Duties:
Duties include:
• Assist in the day-to-day management of the research compliance program
• Lead the development and implementation of an education and quality improvement program for all areas of research compliance
• Provide various research oversight committees and researchers with guidance on complex federal regulations, State law and University policy
• Participate in the review and disposition of matters of actual or potential non-compliance
• Participate in the training, orientation, supervision and evaluation of research compliance staff across CUNY
• Update and develop policies and procedures, as required
• Serve as the College Conflicts Committee Administrator
• Serve as liaison to CUNY campuses, CUNY’s Research Foundation and government agencies
• Will be expected to travel to the various CUNY campuses
• Other duties as assigned by the Director Salary: Commensurate with experience

Core Competencies/Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred
• Minimum of 5 years of research compliance experience in a university, hospital or other research setting
• Experience in interpreting and applying research compliance regulations
• Experience in implementation of systematic compliance programs
• Leadership skills, including creativity and initiative to conceptualize, plan and implement programs that support research and ensure accountability and compliance
• Interpersonal communication skills to create and maintain professional, collaborative working relationships with various constituencies, including faculty members, senior academic and administrative officers, departmental staff, and government and funding agencies
• Oral and written communication skills to synthesize, convey and explain information at all levels of the organization
• Skills to conduct audits and investigations
• Effective organizational and time management skills
