POSITION: Assistant Director of Academic and Membership Affairs (AMA).

Basic Function :
This position is primarily responsible for serving as a member of the NCAA Division III team within AMA, which includes providing support to various Division III committees, and serving as a member of the AMA membership team. In addition, this position will be responsible for assisting in the area of interpretations. Other duties may be assigned based on the candidate’s qualifications and interests.

Duties and Responsibilities :
Serve as member of the AMA Division III team;

Participate in AMA Division III educational efforts .

Serve as staff liaison to appropriate Division III committees, which specifically includes the following:

Serving as the secondary liaison to the Division III Membership Committee.

Serving as the primary liaison to the Division III Academic Issues Subcommittee.

Serving as the secondary liaison to the Division III Convention Planning Subcommittee.

Serve as a key member of the AMA staff working on Division III interpretive issues.

Assist with Division III special projects that impact/involve AMA.

Assist the membership, staff and other interested individuals and organizations in understanding NCAA legislation and interpretations through telephone calls, written correspondence and in-person presentations.

Assist in the preparation and presentation of educational materials that describe the application of NCAA legislation in various subject areas, for both internal staff training and continuing education as well as external educational efforts.

Serve as a liaison to NCAA conferences, assisting them in the understanding of applicable NCAA legislation and interpretations.

Other duties may be assigned, depending on the candidate selected.

Minimum Requirements :
Bachelor’s degree.

Two years of full-time professional experience (excluding internships or graduate assistantships) in intercollegiate athletics academic support or advising, intercollegiate athletics compliance, or the legal profession.

Demonstrated working knowledge of NCAA rules.

Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage a high volume of job assignments with various deadlines using strong organizational skills.

Demonstrated ability to work effectively on a team, collaborating effectively with colleagues serving on the same team.

Strong oral and written communications skills, including the demonstrated ability to deliver presentations tailored to a variety of audiences.

Exceptional customer service skills.

Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to process and synthesize information in multiple formats from various sources.

Well-developed analytical skills.

Strong computer skills with a desire to embrace new technologies.

Preferred Qualifications :
Master’s or advanced/professional degree(s).

Four years of full-time professional experience (excluding internships or graduate assistantships) in intercollegiate athletics academic support or advising, intercollegiate athletics compliance, or the legal profession. Experience within Division III will be considered favorably.

Experience in intercollegiate athletics as an administrator, coach or student-athlete.

Working knowledge of the mission, philosophy and strategic positioning platform of Division III.

Experience handling confidential and sensitive materials.

Interest in research and analysis of intercollegiate athletics issues.

Representatives and staff from different groups within the national office.

Institutional administrators (e.g., presidents and chancellors, athletics directors, senior woman administrators, faculty athletics representatives, compliance administrators).

Conference athletics administrators (e.g., commissioners, associate/assistant commissioners, compliance administrators).

Enrolled student-athletes.

Prospective student-athletes.

Parents of prospective student-athletes and enrolled student-athletes.

Attorneys.

Members of external constituents with an interest in intercollegiate athletics (e.g., coaches associations).
