Advertised Summary Job Description

Incumbent will report to the Director of Development and will oversee alumni relations efforts for the School of Nursing. Manage successful execution of all alumni events and programs, including annual alumni reunion, program- and class-specific alumni events throughout the year; alumni-student engagement functions; and other events as they are planned. Oversee volunteer management. Maintain a proactive connection with key stakeholders at the School of Nursing to ensure that alumni talents and accomplishments are appropriately considered, written about, and utilized by the Student Activities office, the Communications Office, and by program directors and faculty. Serve as liaison to alumni-related committees and programs on CUMC campus and be a member of Columbia Alumni Directors group. The Assistant Director will staff events as needed.

Requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent in education and experience, plus three years of related experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Previous experience preferably in development and/or alumni relations. Must demonstrate outstanding verbal and written communication skills; strong interpersonal, organizational and analytical skills; attentive to detail; have ability to work in fast paced environment and handle multiple projects simultaneously, and use good judgment in prioritizing. Ability to work proactively, both independently and as a team. Must demonstrate the ability to work with management information systems and software systems. Some travel may be required.
