Norfolk State University welcomes all applicants for the role of Assistant Director of Career Services. This position will assist the Director of Career Services in the planning, coordination, and implementation of a comprehensive career services program, preparing students for professional success and employment opportunities. The Assistant Director will oversee the On-Campus Recruitment Program and build relationships with employers to increase opportunities for students. He/She will be responsible for conducting career assessments/career counseling, and organizing programmatic efforts to educate students on topics such as resume writing, interviewing, and job search strategies. The role will also manage the SpartanLink online database, regularly communicating and approving system access for students, alumni and employers.
Bachelor's degree (master's degree strongly preferred)
2-3 years of experience in a higher education environment with direct student contact and advising
Knowledge of and experience in administering career assessments and inventories
Excellent written and oral communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills
Ability to work with a diverse student population and various on- and off-campus professional populations
Ability to handle differing, non-routine work situations and problems by exercising independent judgment and initiative
Valid driver's license
Master's degree in Counseling or Higher Ed/Student Affairs.
Demonstrated experience in a college career services setting.
