General: This job is part of the University of Oregon Alumni Association (UOAA). The purpose and mission of the Alumni Association is to foster connections with the University of Oregon. The UOAA serves 185,000 alumni and friends, including 18,000 members, by keeping them connected to the University of Oregon through events, regular communications, member benefits and being a vital connection to the university. The UOAA has 12 regular employees, two data entry employees and between six to ten student employees.

This position will provide overall marketing and communications strategy and execute tactics in service of the goals of the UOAA. Develop, write, design and produce UOAA marketing and communications pieces including, but not limited to, online and electronic communications (UOAA Online newsletter,, chapter websites, Facebook and other social media and professional networking sites) and printed publications. Supports the Director of Membership & Business Development with writing and production of marketing campaigns for membership. Coordinate advertising, signage, speech writing and programming for events and coordinate special marketing efforts and projects as assigned. Participate in university’s campus communicators and support the university’s strategic communications and initiatives.

Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university. Five years of experience in marketing or communications planning and execution, including publication and digital writing, editing, design and production. Demonstrated experience with word-processing, design and web development computer programs. Demonstrated knowledge of creative copywriting and copy editing for appropriate style, grammar, spelling, punctuation and length. Familiarity with editorial style manuals, production techniques, and printing specifications. Experience with strategic marketing and communication planning.

Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree specialization in public relations, communications, marketing or related field. Demonstrated connection or familiarity with the University of Oregon. Demonstrated commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity. Prior experience working with a CRM solution, preferably iModules. Prior experience working with the communication and marketing needs with a volunteer-centric, nonprofit organization.

Salary Range : $40,000-$50,000 annually based on qualifications and experience.
