Assistant Director of Pharmacy

Horizon Specialty Hospital, Las Vegas, NV

Monday-Friday; 8am-5pm schedule with on call responsibility evenings and nights

As the Assistant Director of Pharmacy , you are the main dispensing pharmacist and Pharmacist In Charge (PIC). Duties include filling orders with accuracy; checking technician prepared products before release; maintaining security of pharmacy and controlled substances; entering orders and patient information with accuracy, and training new staff. In addition, you will organize, control, and supervise activities in hospital pharmacy according to hospital policies, standards of practice of the profession, and State and Federal laws, make recommendations for innovations in the practice and function of the hospital pharmacy and carry out mutually agreed upon programs. You will also lead and direct the clinical, quality, and business management aspects of pharmacy.
This position reports directly to the System Director of Pharmacy (located off-campus) and has after hour on call responsibility during the week.

Horizon Specialty Hospital is a 61 bed Long Term Acute Care facility located just north of McCarron Airport near Interstate 15. The hospital offers quality care to a wide range of patients. The Pharmacy is open 8:30am-5pm M-Fri. Sun is on-call. The Pharmacy is centralized and uses Med-dispense. The Pharmacy is managed by Comprehensive Pharmacy Services (CPS) and all Pharmacy staff are employees of CPS.

Qualifications:
BS or PharmD in Pharmacy from an accredited school of pharmacy
Current Nevada License in good standiing
1-2 years experience as a Pharmacist in an LTAC or inpatient setting.
Excellent communication skills and independent working skills

Desired: One year of Pharmacy Supervision or Leadership experience. Experience with and strong understanding of clinical and operational need specific to the long term acute care hospital environment.
