The Assistant Director has responsibility for the management and operations of clinical programs and services provided by the pharmacy. The Assistant Director assists the Director of Pharmacy in the development and implementation of Department: al operations plans, quality of service, expense control and effective management of capital and human resources for all the services within the Department: . The Assistant Director is also a member of the HIRC and acts as a chairperson for one of the committees.
Fosters the value and supports the objectives of the Medical Center within the System
In collaboration with Vice President, Clinical Support Services, develops business and operations plans for the division and for specific programs and services within it
Through service line and clinical support managers, directs the overall operations of patient care programs and services in the division
Facilitates inter Department: al coordination and cooperation to identify and address Department: al/organizational needs by acting as a liaison between Pharmacy Department: and other disciplines.
Maintains drug information services to provide current information on the therapeutics to medical staff, nursing staff and other healthcare professionals
Collaborates with medical staff in order to assure optimal medication management
Collaborates with physician faculty, other clinical/support directors to ensure that effective coordination of services within and between Department: s.
Performs other similar and related duties as required or directed.
An equivalent combination of education and experience, which provides proficiency in the areas of responsibility listed above, may be substituted for the above education and experience requirements.
Proven experience in leading quality and service improvement activities and achieving outcomes that respond to customer expectations
Demonstrated knowledge and experience in assessing market opportunities, developing business plans, and implementing programs to respond to such opportunities
Experience in effectively leading the design and organization of work and allocation of resources to achieve appropriate staffing levels, staffing mix and productivity levels.
M.S. or Pharm.D. degree and 5 years of previous hospital pharmacy management experience at level of Assistant Director. Residency training and practice experience in Pediatrics is strongly preferred.
