POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Assistant Director of Undergraduate Admissions seeks to recruit students enrolled in Yeshiva University’s core feeder high schools.
  • Travel to high schools throughout the United States and Canada for purposes of recruitment
  • Present to groups of students and parents at college fairs at the high schools
  • Conduct individual admissions interviews at the high schools
  • Interview admissions applicants on campus
  • Organize and participate in parlor nights for potential students/parents at homes of local supportive alumni
  • Develop ongoing relationships with college advisors at the schools
  • Review applications and provide recommendations and background on admissions decisions to the Director of Undergraduate Admissions
  • Establish and maintain ongoing communication with prospective students
  • Coordinate individualized campus visits for prospective students and their families
  • Train and supervise student tour guides and maintain campus tour schedule
  • Work closely with admissions team to plan and implement yearly recruitment events (ie: Open House, athletic tournaments, high school class visits)
  • Facilitate various kinds of services for incoming students related to student finance, registration, and advising;
  • Perform other special projects as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience and Educational Background
  • Bachelor’s degree required and prior related experience (1-2yrs) in a university setting preferred
  • Familiarity with the undergraduate dual curriculum and student experience at YU, ideally, having graduated from YU
  • Some degree of knowledge of higher education administration and norms, ideally from having worked in some aspect of higher education administrations, admissions, or student services

  • Develops and maintains positive relationships with peers, students and employees and high school contacts
  • Assumes responsibility to ensure issues/concerns will be addressed and monitors them through conclusion
  • Identifies, defines and analyzes information and situations before recommending a course of action
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
  • Effectively manages own time and resources
  • Excellent oral communication skills, including public speaking
  • Genuine enthusiasm for Yeshiva University
