The Assistant Distribution Center Manager is responsible for all aspects of Distribution Center Management, including, but not limited to handling customer orders, making shipments, maintaining center inventory and operating within controllable cost per ton budgets. Under general supervision and guidance from the Distribution Center Manager, the Assistant Distribution Center Manager will plan, execute and measure productivity,
develop and implement opportunities for process improvement and cost savings
throughout all areas of responsibility.
Order Management. Communicates and cooperates with customers, District Sales Managers, Distribution Center Customer Service,
Distribution Center Managers, Corporate Customer Service, Product Management and Executive Management.
Operations Management. Works with the Distribution Center Manager to anticipate warehouse operational needs and acts accordingly to ensure all objectives are met; ensures the timely and accurate completion of inventory transfers, inventory receipts, receipts of all inbound shipments and shipments of all inbound orders.
Inventory Management. Works closely with the Distribution Center Manager to ensure inventory accuracy through solid processes, cycle counts and annual inventory counts. Maintains control of scrap and remnant inventory.
Personnel Management. Assist the Distribution Center Manger with the selection, management, training, scheduling, evaluating, guiding and disciplining of staff to make sure all department expectations are met, while ensuring company policy compliance.
Safety Management. Works with the Distribution Center Manager to ensure compliance with all government and company safety regulations, as per Company policy.
Quality Control Management. Actively supports the Quality Improvement Process through visible proactive and positive actions.
Report Management. Completes and submits reports on warehouse status and effectiveness as required by the Distribution Center Manager.
Requires high school diploma or GED and relevant experience
Computer skills including JD Edwards.
Exceptionally strong leadership, interpersonal and communication skills.
Warehouse, logistics, inventory and transportation management experience.
Ability to manage change successfully.
