POSITION BACKGROUND & SCOPE:

The position is responsible for assisting the General Operations Manager in planning and directing all operations and distribution activities. Helps drives implementation of best practices across the platform. Identifies key leverage points and develops and implements initiatives to drive significant improvements in productivity, service and quality.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACTIVITIES:

Participates on Local Business Team which has P&L responsibility.

Coordinates the execution of distribution schedules based on facility capacity

Oversees the maintenance of buildings and equipment, plant security and safety.

Participates in long-range plant expansion, conversion and equipment planning

Monitors and improves productivity while improving quality

Assists the General Operations Manager on capital budgeting and report analysis

Controls transportation costs; (e.g. coordinates local fleet route stops)

Coaches and trains supervisors in management skills

Monitors a safety program and ensures OSHA compliance

Responsible for demonstrating a commitment to Total Quality and the process of continuous improvement

Maintains a healthy associate relations climate

Assures compliance with HR policies and reviews disciplinary actions

Interviews prospective employees, serving as second level review in the case of hourly employees,

Participates in hiring all supervisory personnel.

Responsible for identifying and responding actively and with sensitivity to the needs of all customers and be open and responsive to change

Leads and sponsors High Performance Teams to deliver on WOW objectives.

Qualifications

Good sense of process, understands work flow of a facility

Looks for ways to improve both in quality and efficiency

Appreciation for distribution technology (equipment, software) as adapted to meet customer requirements

Able to react quickly to changes initiated from outside the facility and allocate resources to meet changes in demand. Able to plan for seasonal peaks and valleys

Minimum of 5 years of progressive, more responsible supervisory experience in distribution

College degree or equivalent (preferably in Operations Management, Logistics, or Industrial Engineering). MBA desired, but not necessary.

Open to relocation for future opportunities

Promotable to GOM opening within 18 to 24 months.
