Role Summary:
The Assistant Manager, Business Affairs, Focus Features International will be the junior attorney supporting the film sales team of the International department.

Essential Responsibilities:
  • Draft and negotiate agreements for international distribution deals with independent film distributors and/or distributors’ counsel.
  • Manage and oversee the contracts and sales database.
  • Work with the international tax team to complete and file any international tax applications or other documents required by international withholding tax treaties.
  • Prepare affidavits, Copyright Certifications, Certificates of Authorization, and other similar documents for territories where documentation is required before distributors can enforce their rights against pirates or release a film.
  • Oversee invoicing and contract execution for all deals.
  • Generate legal summaries and other reports for third party producers and various contract summary reports for internal use during film markets.

    Basic Qualifications:
  • JD from an ABA accredited law school
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Willingness to travel to international film markets if necessary
  • Ability to communicate clearly with executives at all levels
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills

  • Self-motivated, willing to solve problems, and able to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Excellent computer literacy
  • Background in independent film sales or international licensing deals preferred
