Western & Southern Financial Group has an immediate opportunity for a Assistant Manager, Quality Assurance.

Summary of Responsibilities:
Manages the activities of the Insurance Operations’ Technical Services staff through proper portfolio and project work plans. Top-level technical position responsible for leading other Technical Services Analysts in the pursuit of quality assurance of various Enterprise insurance administration and peripheral systems. Brings to bear wide technical systems experience, product knowledge and product development background in recommending courses of action in the implementation and deployment of new products in the Enterprise insurance administration and peripheral systems. Considers the total product development and administration spectrum, from initial specification development to coding, testing and implementation of products into administration systems, along with the determination of state filing requirements, forms and policy pages development and other final deliverables. Able to direct and coordinate multiple Technical Services’ activities for moderate to large size projects.
Responsible for overseeing and quality assurance delivery on projects focused on problem resolution regarding administration system processes employed by the business units of Insurance Operations as well as providing proper documentation and training for those units regarding associated changes in products and business/system processes. Interacts with other business units including Western & Southern Life, Columbus Life and IFS providing quality assurance of their illustration and commission processing systems.
Coordinates and monitors activities within the department to ensure the ability of staff to support effective and timely implementation of new products and other corporate projects. Responsible for the individual development and evaluation of staff in order to provide superior quality assurance testing necessary for rollout and administration of Enterprise products. Provides mentoring for Technical Services staff. Assigned administratively to a single Technical Services manager but moves from one priority assignment within the department to another as needed. Operates with minimal supervision and is virtually independent in the development and employment of appropriate test plans and test matrixes. Has contact with most levels of Company associates up to and including business unit Vice Presidents.

Position Requirements

Position Responsibilities:
•Acts as the subproject leader for Technical Services leading the project planning process for new product implementation and other corporate projects where quality assurance testing and training is required. Works hand-in-hand with Information Services and system vendors in determining scope and time line of implementation of new products or system enhancements and/or corrections. Responsible for timely analysis of modification needs from the vendors and special coding to plan file. Develops and documents the project plan for Technical Services and coordinates delivery schedules with other subproject and project leaders representing Information Services, Marketing, Compliance and Product Development and Implementation. Responsible for overseeing the execution of the Technical Services’ project plan along with any necessary status reporting and change management execution.
•Represents Insurance Operations while actively participating in committee meetings on developmental projects, large-scale improvement projects and internal Insurance Operations committees. May chair committees or subcommittees.
•Serves as the department’s point person representing business units from Insurance Operations and other departments, leading other Technical Service Analysts in making appropriate decisions on their behalf regarding the design of new and existing products, development of policy forms, review of forms to meet state regulations and how product features will be processed within administrative and illustration systems. Responsible for attending all Product Implementation Team meetings and identifying other Technical Services Analysts whose attendance is also required. Is the team leader in assuring proper interpretation of high-level specifications, and at times, influences decisions based on system and processing capabilities.
•Oversees and ensures the coding and maintaining of appropriate system files, such as plan file and plan tables, for product plans, riders and benefits, interest rates, accounting, agent’s commission and product rates which drive programming logic and calculation.
•Ensures that test plans and matrixes have been reviewed with business units, helping to ensure that all procedures and systems processes employed by the business unit are adequately covered. Ensures that proper communication channels between Technical Services and those business units remain open and are properly utilized when additional communication is warranted throughout the project.
•Leads in the development of accurate and comprehensive test plans and test matrixes for testing the implementation of new products or enhancements in the Enterprise administration and peripheral systems. Ensures that test plans include the checkout and comparisons of results between administration, illustration and policy page systems, along with the integration of SACS and iNB testing. Oversees the timely execution of such plans and matrixes.
•Executes Performance Management responsibilities. Develops and maintains performance standards to ensure the ability of staff to support effective and timely implementation of new products and corporate projects. Includes goal setting, identification of individual developmental needs and overseeing that action plans are created and executed to address those needs. Administers salary and performance evaluations. Fosters a culture within the department that promotes open communication, integrity, professionalism, teamwork and a sense of urgency.
•Identifies the training and development needs of the Technical Services staff. Coordinates and works with training associates in the development and delivery of necessary training programs to address those needs.
•Oversees and ensures that training sessions for the business units for all new product and procedural updates as a result of new product implementation and/or other corporate projects are properly developed and delivered.
•Oversees and leads medium to large size projects focused on resolution of problems or errors occurring in administration systems or processes employed by Insurance Operations’ business units and illustration and/or commission processing systems employed by the various marketing business units (Western & Southern Life, Columbus Life, IFS). Leverages in-depth knowledge and experience in the research and analysis of problems or errors, and leads in the determination of next steps of action (correction or referral). Responsible for follow-up of such action and regularly communicating status of correction to the various business units. Coordinates the efforts of Technical Services and/or other referrals, such as Information Services, ensuring that all corrections are appropriately implemented and tested for quality and completeness. Additionally oversees the development and delivery of any necessary training corresponding to problem resolution.
•Performs as a top-level technical expert in one or more highly specialized areas of system applications and/or product development. Provides technical leadership and consulting by giving advice/expertise on administration systems, business processes and Enterprise products to all levels of the Technical Services staff. Exhibits a work ethic that is emulated by other teams within the department and adopted as a best current practice.
•Provides technical/application/product training and/or advice to other Technical Services and Insurance Operations staff. Mentors Technical Systems Analysts. Readily shares unique knowledge and skill sets.
•Performs other duties as assigned by management.

Educational Requirements:
•Bachelors degree preferred.
Computer skills and knowledge of hardware & software required:

Certifications & licenses (i.e. Series 6 & 63, CPA, etc.):
•None required.
