The Hydro Assistant Operator is responsible for the safe operation of the Hydro electric Power plant equipment, including turbine generator, auxiliary and station service equipment and associated transmission and distribution facilities, stream flow and transmission line energy accounting, line switching and proper clearance procedures. The individual must ensure compliance with all applicable Federal and State regulations for the operation and maintenance of the projects as well as work practices and safety. The Assistant Operator will be responsible for trouble shooting electrical and mechanical problems. This position will require the working of 12 hour shift rotation when performing the relief duties in the Rainbow Operators position and working 10 hour shift when performing relief duties in the Black Eagle/Rainbow Run position. Relief work in both classifications will require working weekends and holidays on a 24 hour notice.
1. Safe operation of HydroElectric power plant Equipment.
2. Compliance of all applicable Federal and State regulations for operation of the projects.
3. Relief of the Rainbow control room operator and the Black Eagle and Rainbow run position.
4. Working weekends and holidays on short notice.
5. Ability to work in all weather conditions
Candidates must meet the basic qualifications to receive consideration.
High school diploma or GED equivalent
Must have a valid Drivers License.
Working 12 hour and 10 hour shifts rotations required
Working knowledge of rotating electrical and mechanical equipment
Understanding of electrical and mechanical diagrams
Must posses good written and oral communication skills
Must have personal computer skills and familiarity with computer programs like word and excel.
