Position Title: Assistant Product Designer Reports to: Senior Designer Location: Home Office - New Albany, OH As an Assistant Product Designer, your focus will be on assisting in the design and development of products, their packaging and any related marketing devices for the Fine Fragrance and Personal Care department. The main focus will be on conceptualizing new product lines, updating existing products and finding opportunities to grow the Fragrance and Personal Care business. Candidates will have a passion for the brand and our customer, a strong eye for trend and color, great style, and strong communication and organizational skills. Responsibilities • Involved in market research, mood board creation, idea generation, 2D and 3D sketching (form and function) • Actively participate in the conceptual development and sketching of product line • Create and implement direction for each season including edits to line, new concepts, etc., that is consistent with brand strategy and market trend • Ability to manage design updates for various product lines over multiple seasons • Ability to clearly present line and communicate directly with business partners, supervisors, and the CEO • Work with engineers to ensure tech packages are accurate and complete • Partner with merchants and know business/sales side of category; apply this knowledge to the creation of new seasons • Intimate understanding of A&F brands and customer Requirements • BA in Industrial Design, 3D Product Design or related field • Strong design and conceptual skills • Strong sketching ability with a wide range of analog media (marker renderings, pencil and charcoal, conte etc). Must be able to enhance sketches digitally for presentation purposes • Strong sense of style, form, pattern, color and designing with resistant materials • Good understanding of spacial relations, engineering, mechanics, ergonomics and anthropometrics • Thorough knowledge of design and art history (particularly early to mid 1900s), fabrication, manufacturing techniques, graphics and marketing • Strong organizational, time management, communication and presentation skills • Good understanding of merchandising as it relates to sales and store environment • Required to travel domestically and internationally • Strong computer knowledge: Illustrator, Photoshop, In Design and SolidWorks (or similar) Abercrombie & Fitch Co. is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action employer
