NORC at the University of Chicago current seeks an Assistant Production Manager for the Production Center in downtown Chicago, IL.

Responsibilities
  • Reporting to the Production Manager, the Assistant Production Manager will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day activities of interviewers, clerks, and, indirectly, Supervisors, within the various functional areas of the facility and for supervising more complex components of a specific study or studies
  • Maintaining and improving quality standards and service levels
  • Identifying problems and proposing solutions
  • Performing routine project and production tasks
  • Ensuring compliance with project and organizational policies and procedures
  • Serving as a role model for Supervisors, and acting as a model of professionalism for the staff
  • This position requires flexibility in work schedule; a weekend shift is required as well as some evening shifts

Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent; Bachelor's degree in social sciences preferred
  • At least two years experience in positions of increasing supervisory responsibility
  • Candidates with experience in task and case management, production supervision, data collection or data preparation, and survey research, preferred

Ideal candidates should also have:
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Ability to create a teamwork environment by working cooperatively with peers, subordinates, managers, and staff in other departments
  • Advanced ability to motivate, coach, counsel and evaluate others
  • Accuracy and attention to detail
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Intermediate knowledge of principles and processes of survey research, especially data collection practices
  • Knowledge of computer software e.g., MS Office, Timekeeping, CATI, CADE, Case Management and Call Scheduling packages
  • Ability to create and manage budgets of medium complexity
  • Very good troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Strong customer-service orientation
