Morehead State University, recognized as one of the top public universities in the South by U.S. News & World Report, is accepting applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Education in the area of Educational Technology in the Department of Foundational and Graduate Studies in Education.

Responsibilities: Teach masters, and doctoral level courses ranging from technology skills through instructional design, research, and leadership. The major portion of this individual’s course load will be delivered online as part of our fully web-based graduate program which leads to both advanced degrees and a teaching endorsement in Instructional Computer Technology. Occasional teaching of undergraduate educational foundation courses may occur.

Qualifications: Doctorate in instructional/educational technology, instructional design, or closely related field. Experience in conducting research and/or teaching research methods courses.

Special Information: Experience working in public schools as a teacher instructional designer, or technology specialist is highly desirable. It is also recommended that the applicant have a record of university teaching, service, and scholarly productivity as well as knowledge of national trends in the educational technology. Experience with educational technology, instruction via distance learning, research, and grant writing. Scholarly productivity and service are required for tenure consideration. High quality teaching, consistent scholarly productivity, and service are required for tenure.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Primary responsibility is instruction in the assigned discipline or related field. Additional duties include advising students and participation in service opportunities. Engaging in scholarly activity (research, artistic activity and professional development) is expected.

An Assistant Professor reports to a department chair or associate dean.

Minimum Requirements

Terminal degree from an accredited institution in the individual’s discipline as recognized by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. Exceptions will be those non-doctoral degrees considered to be terminal degrees by discipline-specific accrediting bodies recognized by the Commission on Recognition of Postsecondary Accreditation ( CORPA ).

Physical Requirements

Working Conditions

Assistant Professor will teach in a typical classroom environment or an internet based environment. Travel to a Regional Campus or off-site location may be required.
