About the Department: The department has 29 permanent full-time faculty, including eight counseling faculty. Programs include a B.A. in Psychology and three graduate programs; M.S. programs in both Experimental Psychology and Mental Health Counseling and a M.Ed. in School Counseling ( ). Counseling Graduate Programs: The graduate programs in School and Mental Health Counseling are fulltime, 2-year programs. Students complete their practicum experience during the Winter and Spring quarters of their first year, supervised by a clinical/counseling faculty member.

Position Responsibilities: The successful candidate will be expected to teach courses in the abnormal psychology domain, including Introduction to Abnormal Psychology, Abnormal Psychology, and Senior Seminar and Correlational Research Methods and Statistics. Additional classes may include Health Psychology, and other courses within the candidate's area of expertise. The candidate may also be expected to supervise graduate counseling practicum students. The candidate is expected to develop and maintain an active research program that involves undergraduate students.

Required Qualifications:
  • PhD in Clinical or Counseling Psychology to be completed by September 2014
  • Eligible for licensure in Washington State as a Psychologist
  • Demonstrated ability to teach undergraduate courses in the Department of Psychology in abnormal psychology and to supervise practicum students in the Mental Health Counseling program
  • Active program of research and publication record commensurate with experience

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Research focus in Health Psychology and/or Aging
  • Experience mentoring students in research
  • Experience working effectively with diverse students and faculty
  • Experience teaching undergraduate courses such as correlational research methods and statistics, and/ or health psychology
  • Graduate of APA accredited program
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with faculty and staff across disciplines, within and outside of psychology
