Program Director for Accelerated BSN

The School of Nursing (SON) invites applications for the position of Program Director of its Accelerated BSN Entry-Option (ABSN).

This is a full-time, non-tenure track, 12-month appointment available in the accredited (CCNE) SON at Western Carolina University.

Rank is commensurate with experience.

The School expects the successful candidate to possess outstanding communication skills, evidence of sustained scholarly activity, teach and develop online and traditional courses, advise students, participate on committees, and other university activities. Other responsibilities include: directing/coordinating the ABSN program, teaching courses primarily in Asheville, supervising student practicums in western North Carolina regions, and grant writing in support of the program. In addition, Western Carolina University has adopted the Boyer model of scholarship and faculty are expected to practice the scholarship of student engagement to enhance student learning.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities/Competencies:
Minimum Training & Experience Requirements

Master's degree in nursing from an accredited program; eligibility for RN licensure in NC; two years teaching experience at BSN level or higher, current CPR certification, and two years prior experience in direct patient care as an RN. Applicants must also meet nurse educator requirements as outlined by the NC Board of Nursing. A doctorate in nursing or a related field is preferred.

Preference will be given to those applicants with the following training and experience:
