Assistant Professor of Educational Assessment

The Department of Educational Technology, Research and Assessment (ETRA) at Northern Illinois University is seeking qualified applicants for one faculty position as an Assistant Professor of Educational Assessment. The position we are currently seeking to fill is permanent, tenure-track, with salary based on experience.

ETRA is one of six departments in the College of Education. Our mission is to advance the development and use of assessment, research methodology, and technology in a variety of settings to enhance teaching, learning, and scholarship. Degrees offered in the department include an MS in Educational Research and Evaluation (ERE), an MSEd in Instructional Technology, endorsement and certification (initial and advanced) in the areas of Technology and Library Information Specialist, and an EdD in Instructional Technology. We also offer ERE Certificates of Graduate Study in Response to Intervention (RtI), Advanced Quantitative Methodology in Education, and Advanced Qualitative Methodology in Education. REQUIRED SKILLS

An earned doctorate in Educational Assessment (or a closely related field) by the time of appointment; the ability to (1) teach undergraduate and graduate courses in educational assessment, including diverse areas of specialization in classroom assessment (e.g., elementary education, secondary education); (2) develop and revise assessment curriculum; (3) collaborate with other college and university-level units regarding curricular offerings; (4) work directly with schools to plan and implement meaningful assessment experiences to support educational decision making; (5) serve as a graduate student advisor and direct student research; and (6) have an active research agenda involving assessment.

PREFERRED SKILLS

Highly desired qualifications: We are especially interested in candidates who have one or more of the following: experience conducting assessment in K-12 or other P-20 settings; expertise in special education assessment and/or higher education assessment; the ability to teach general introductory educational research courses; experience advising graduate students and directing student research.
