Duties and Responsibilities
Loyola University Chicago, College of Arts and Sciences, Department of Fine and Performing Arts invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor of Theatre with focus in Costume Design, beginning fall 2013. The Theatre Program, within the Department of Fine and Performing Arts, serves approximately 150 majors and minors in a liberal-arts based program focused on the areas of performance/directing, history/literature/criticism, and design/technology. Teaching responsibilities may include (but are not limited to) Costume Design, Introduction to Theatre, Introduction to Design, Crafts for the Stage, Theatre Practicum, Dramatic Structure and Theatrical Process, as well as costume design for the Loyola mainstage season, mentorship of student designers, academic advisement of theatre students, and participation in service to the Department of Fine and Performing Arts. Candidates for the position must clearly demonstrate the potential for excellence in design and teaching. Costume shop experience is desirable.
Minimum Education or Experience
The successful applicant will have an MFA in Theatre Design or equivalent professional experience and a strong commitment to excellence in teaching at all levels.
