The incumbent will report directly to the chairman of the department and work in the area of food microbiology/food safety and immunochemistry in the Department of Food and Animal Sciences. The successful candidate is expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in food science, particularly in the area of food microbiology and food safety. He/she is expected to develop a multidisciplinary independent research program via generation of extramural research funds participate in interdisciplinary research activities in food science; assistant/advise undergraduate and graduate students; serve on committees as assigned; participate in student recruitment and retention activities; and execute any other duties and responsibilities that are assigned by the department chairperson. He/She must have an outstanding history of publication and grantsmanship.
Requirements:
Earned Doctorate degree in food microbiology, food safety or related area. Preference will be given to candidate with background in immunology and experience in molecular biology, cyto- & histo-immunochemistry and mammalian cell tissue culture. The candidate will be required to have some working experience with food spoilage and pathogenic microorganisms including methods to rapidly detect microorganisms, and gene expression.
