The department of English at Saint Augustine’s College invites applications for two full-time positions in English at the rank of Assistant Professor, beginning August 2012.
The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching core composition and upper-level courses, including American Literature, English Literature and/or Gender Studies. The candidate will also advise majors and have an active research agenda. Other responsibilities include maintaining a high level of professional activity and service to the College. Preference will be given to those candidates who strive to be master teachers yet remain active within the discipline, who are committed to the mentoring of students, and who have successfully worked with culturally diverse populations. A 12-hour teaching load (four courses) is expected each semester.
The successful candidate will have 1. PhD in Rhetoric and Composition or Literature and Criticism; 2. experience teaching at the college level; 3. the ability to develop and coordinate programming; 4. knowledge and experience with multimedia technology; 5. successful experience interacting with culturally diverse populations; and 6. evidence of scholarly presentation and publication or potential thereof.
