Assistant Professor
Department of Mechanical Engineering and Energy Processes

The Department of Mechanical Engineering and Energy Processes at Southern Illinois University Carbondale seeks applicants for a tenure-track faculty position at the level of Assistant Professor starting August 16, 2014. Applications will be entertained in the areas of control systems, power generation, and energy. The department has specific interest in areas of robotics, engines, and novel and renewable energy systems. Faculty members are expected to supervise student projects and theses, and provide service to the university and the general public.

Qualifications: A Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering or a related field is required. The successful candidate must possess a strong interest in teaching both undergraduate and graduate courses and demonstrate potential for pursuing independent, externally funded research. Strong written and oral communications skills are required.

Application Deadline: Review of applications will begin on January 2, 2014. However, applications will be considered until the position is filled.
