Contributes to the university’s mission through teaching, patient care, research and service. Medical practice of Critical Care or Critical Care & Pulmonary Medicine with some General Internal Medicine. Teaching residents and medical students. This position is responsible for providing inpatient and outpatient medical care. This includes examination of patients, ordering x-rays and laboratory tests to help make an accurate diagnosis, and planning and execution of treatment. Adheres to institutional and departmental policies and procedures.
Maintain or develop an academic research program in the field of critical care and/or pulmonology. May conduct mini-courses or lectures for residents and/or medical students.
Terminal academic degree (or its equivalent) as defined by the academic unit and as appropriate for the position held. Ability to teach effectively. Promise of growth in teaching, research and creative activity and service.
Graduation from an accredited school of medicine with an M.D. or D.O. degree. Must have license to practice medicine in the State of Texas or eligible for Texas medical licensure. Certificate or license for prescribing controlled substances. Three years post-graduate training in primary care medicine and completion of Critical Care and/or Pulmonology Fellowship Training Program.
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
