Position Description:
The Department of Sociology at the University of Chicago invites applications for a first-term tenure-track position as an assistant professor who will contribute to our program in urban social organization. The successful applicant may be a qualitative or a quantitative researcher working on either micro- or macro-level questions in the U.S. or abroad. The area of specialization, either within or intersecting, urban sociology is open; possible topics include (but are not limited to) education, well-being, employment, race and ethnicity, family, mobility, migration, transnationalism, criminal justice, health, housing, economy, organizational capacity, networks, and culture. The position requires maintaining a rigorous program of independent research, teaching and advising undergraduate and graduate students, and contributing to the University of Chicago's lively interdisciplinary research community. Appointment begins in the fall of 2013; PhD degree must be in hand by September 1, 2013. Applications must be submitted online, at http://tinyurl.com/7dyfjph.
