of Sport Management. The Department of Business Administration & Law and Sport Management at Western Carolina University invites applications for an Assistant Professor tenure-track faculty position in Sport Management beginning in the Fall Semester 2013 or Spring Semester 2014.

Duties: Teaching responsibilities include undergraduate Sport Event Management & Sponsorship, Sport Administration, Sport Media, Introduction to Sport Management, as well as other undergraduate courses in at least one other business discipline (e.g. management or marketing). Must achieve and maintain "academically qualified" status per AACSB requirements.

Additional duties: The successful candidate will be responsible for pursuing appropriate professional, research, and community engagement activities; serving on departmental, college and university committees; advising sport management students; and effectively interfacing with the business community.

The tenure, promotion and reappointment policies of the College of Business and the University are based on all four quadrants of the Boyer Model of Scholarship. Consequently, faculty have the opportunity to apply their scholarly activities to help solve problems that face the larger community beyond the boundaries of campus, to integrate student learning with the scholarship of engagement, to advance the pedagogy, as well as, to investigate issues of interest within and across academic disciplines.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities/Competencies:
Minimum Training & Experience Requirements

Doctorate in Sport Management or related field required. ABD in Sport Management or related field may be considered.

All degrees must be awarded by a university whose college of business is AACSB-accredited.

Preference will be given to those applicants with the following training and experience:

Preference may be given to a candidate possessing both a doctorate in Sport Management (or related field) and an MBA. Industry experience is desired.

Preference may be given to candidates who have university level (undergraduate and graduate) teaching experience and have a proven research record.
