Program in Emergency and Disaster Management, Department of Criminology & Criminal Justice is seeking applications for a tenure track faculty member at the rank of Assistant Professor, beginning August, 2012.
Responsibilities include teaching (online and residential), publication of scholarly research, departmental service, and collegiality. Evidence of a scholarly agenda, supported by some publication, is preferred.
The successful candidate will teach a range of courses in emergency and disaster management and subjects that interface with the criminal justice discipline, including Homeland Security and Terrorism.
Experience in first responder setting is strongly preferred.
The department houses two majors and is one of the largest on the campus. It is a progressive department with a theoretically oriented criminal justice degree and a growing Emergency and Disaster Management program. Western Carolina University enrolls nearly 10,000 students and is located in a beautiful mountain setting only minutes from Cherokee, NC and the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.

A Ph.D. is required with coursework in Emergency Management desired. All degrees must be from an accredited institution. Experience in first responder setting is strongly preferred.
