Western Carolina University. The Department of Criminology & Criminal Justice is seeking applications for a tenure-track faculty member at the rank of Assistant Professor, beginning August 1, 2013.
Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience. Responsibilities include teaching, research, service, and advisement activity

The department houses 2 majors and is one of the largest departments in the university. Western Carolina University enrolls 9,6oo students and is located in a beautiful mountain setting only minutes from Cherokee, NC and the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities/Competencies:
Minimum Training & Experience Requirements
Ph.D. in criminology/criminal justice or a closely related discipline with a clear criminological focus. Highly qualified ABD candidates will be considered if completion of the degree is imminent. Candidates should have a clearly articulated research agenda and a commitment to academic excellence and collegiality. Strong preparation to teach criminological theory and research methods is sought. Degree must be from an appropriately accredited institution.
Preference will be given to those applicants with the following training and experience:
Preference will be extended to candidates with backgrounds suitable to teach in the areas of criminological theory and research methods with areas of specialty open.
