The Department of Communication at the University of Connecticut seeks an Assistant Professor in Residence. This faculty member will teach introduction to Communication and other courses in the department while supervising graduate student teaching assistants.
The Communication Department (coms.uconn.edu) serves approximately 700 undergraduate majors, and has an active graduate program. There are 13 tenure track faculty at the Storrs (main) campus and 3 at the Stamford Campus. Minimum Qualifications: A Ph.D. in Communication or a closely related field is required. Candidates must also have experience supervising teaching assistants and teaching large undergraduate courses in Communication, and take an empirical approach to the study of Communication. Other areas of expertise and teaching including interpersonal, mass media effects, organizational, new technology, and media literacy are preferred. Individuals who show evidence of collegiality and contribute to diversity goals are preferred. The teaching load will be 7 three-credit courses per year, or the equivalent.
The position is a 9-month, non-tenure track appointment, which may be renewed subject to funding, performance, and relevance to the academic mission.
