The Biology Department at the University of Indianapolis invites applications for an Assistant Professor of Biology. This is a full-time, nine-month, tenure-track faculty position. Start date beginning January 2014 or August 2014.

The Assistant Professor will coordinate and teach the General Biology sequence. Additional teaching duties may include innovative science content courses to non-majors and a course in the candidate’s area of expertise. Support and development of a research program involving undergraduates is encouraged.

Required Education/Experience/Skills (Minimum Qualifications)
The successful candidate should possess a Ph.D. (or evidence of completion prior to start date) in biology or related field and have teaching experience. Familiarity with evolutionary principles and both organismal and cellular/molecular biology is required.

Desired Education/Experience/Skills (Additional Qualifications)
The candidate’s area of expertise should integrate well with the broad-based content of general biology. Candidates with a background in instructional pedagogy are also encouraged to apply. The successful candidate is expected to have high aptitude and commitment to innovative undergraduate teaching and mentoring, the ability to communicate effectively in a classroom and laboratory setting, and a willingness to serve the department, University, and wider community in a manner consistent with the mission of the University.
