POSITIONS: Artist-Teacher/Performer of Clarinet (Announcement #12290)
RANK & SALARY: Tenure-track appointment. Assistant Professor, salary commensurate with training and experience
STARTING DATE: September 16, 2013
DUTIES: Responsibilities for position will be to teach and recruit undergraduate and graduate clarinet students, coach/direct chamber music ensembles, and teach courses in clarinet/woodwind techniques/methods. Additional duties dependent upon qualifications and interests of the applicant and the needs of the School. Maintain an active performing career and/or program of appropriate research/creative activity including performing with the Oregon Faculty Woodwind Quintet. Serve on committees and perform other appropriate University service.
QUALIFICATIONS: Master’s degree in music required; doctorate or equivalent outstanding professional experience preferred. Evidence of excellence in clarinet teaching at the college level and significant solo, chamber music, and/or orchestral performing experience is required. The successful candidate will demonstrate high potential for recruiting and building an outstanding program. We seek candidates with the demonstrated potential to contribute effectively to a faculty team dedicated to creating a positive, dynamic, and inclusive learning environment for an increasingly diverse student population.
SCHOOL: The music program has an enrollment of more than 400 music majors and a faculty and staff of 85 plus 70 Graduate Teaching Fellows. A wide variety of undergraduate and graduate degree programs are offered, from the baccalaureate through the doctoral level, including programs in performance, accompanying, music education, composition, theory, history, jazz studies, piano and string pedagogy, conducting, music technology, and music with a liberal arts emphasis. The school is designated as the only full-range professional school of music and dance in the Oregon University System.
